Legal online gambling in BC means PlayNow
British Columbia permits gambling only where the provincial government operates it. In B.C., legal online gambling is limited to one site: PlayNow.com, which is operated by BCLC, a Crown corporation.
How gambling works in BC
British Columbia permits gambling on one condition: the provincial government has to run it. All commercial gambling in the province is run by BCLC, a Crown corporation. That includes online gambling, which BCLC offers through PlayNow.com. Its voluntary self-exclusion program has operated under the Gaming Control Act.
IGCO, the Independent Gambling Control Office, has acted as provincial regulator since April 13, 2026. It took over from the previous branch on that date. The minimum gambling age is 19, for casinos and for online play alike. Minors may not be present in a casino or a bingo facility anywhere in BC. Entry at Cascades Casino Langley requires valid government-issued photo ID.
Other online sites
IGCO said on August 28, 2026, that PlayNow.com alone among commercial online gambling sites is regulated and permitted to operate in BC. The regulator also said that online gambling sites other than this one, when they accept BC players, are operating illegally in BC. The province has not announced a licensed private online market.

Self-exclusion and help
BCLC's GameBreak self-exclusion program covers casinos and community gaming centres. It also excludes a person from PlayNow.com for the same period. A person may choose 3 years or 2 years, or else a term of 1 year or 6 months. After selection, a term cannot be altered.
